Golf Goes to Avalon

27th May 2021 - For the first time our Probus golf group played at Avalon GC. The course is a picturesque, tree-lined 9 hole layout. Andrea provided perfect weather (as always) and 14 players competed. Perhaps the only down-side is that the quality of the greens left much to be desired.

Prizes for Nearest the Pin went to Maggie Kennedy, Andrea Mollema and Liz Henderson.

For the men, no-one managd to hit the green on the first NTP hole (also the first hole of the course). Jonathon Drane and Andrew Drummond won the prizes for the later NTP challenges.

One extra ball prize was voted on acclamation to go to David Newton-Ross for having a birdie off the stick on the par 5 8th hole. Whilst it's not a long par 5, it is uphill all the way and requires an accurate iron shot over high protective trees to get close to the hole in 3. So there is a considerable degree of difficulty. Ergo well done David.
