Vale Michael Loom

Sadly our Foundation Member Michael succumbed to illness on 23rd June 2021.

Michael served our club well and faithfully as Treasurer in 2019/20 and Assistant Treasurer in 2020/21. He is survived by his wife Angela, children Sasha and Steven and their families.

Both English by birth, Michael and Angela as a young couple set out for a 2 year adventure in Australia. They stayed. Michael retained his English roots by supporting the England Cricket Team and Arsenal Football Club. His other sporting loyalties were all Australian. He was an avid, often vociferous supporter of Manly-Warringah NRL club and held a season ticket for decades.

An accountant by calling, Michael was awarded his 50 year membership by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand shortly before his passing.

We remember Michael as a quiet, unassuming person (except, reportedly, at Manly NRL matches). He enjoyed trivia nights at Pittwater RSL, ice-cream, his children’s sports – cricket for Steven and ice-skating for Sasha – and always making a show of his Christmas lights at his home.

We will miss him. Rest in peace.
